I'm 39 weeks today and Luka is officially FULL term! With my unicornuate uterus, I'm astonished that I've made it this far, so as you can imagine, I've had my mommy bag packed for awhile. However, we went to the hospital last week for a labor check and I realized I didn't quite have everything together. Even though it ended up being a trial run, I'm thankful for the chance to really make sure we are ready for the big day. I shared what's in my baby bag on my Instagram, but since I have a few links to share for what's in my mommy bag, I decided to create a blog post for this as well. Dad also has his own bag filled with his clothes, toiletries, and entertainment.
What's in my
mommy bag?
Wallet with Photo ID and Insurance Card for registration purposes (if you have copies of your prenatal record, bring it. However, most places use electronic charting so usually no need to bring copies).
Nursing Bras - I got a few different ones to try. This one is for everyday wear and extremely comfortable. This one is for hands free pumping, which I'm excited to try out. This one is for sleeping. I recommend starting off with 2-3 for versatility purposes, then purchasing more once you know for sure which ones work for you.
Nursing Tank Tops - Mainly for leaving the hospital or if I feel the need to wear some sort of regular clothes during my hospital stay. These 3-pack racer back tanks had cute designs and prints, so decided to try them out. I got an X-large.
Flip flops for the shower and for walking in general since I will probably be swollen from the fluids administered during labor.
Comfortable memory foam slippers - I desperately needed a new pair anyways
Adult diapers - everyone swears these work so much better than mesh undies and pads. I got an X-large.
Matching mommy robe and baby swaddle/hat set - nothing wrong with getting something cute to celebrate your new bundle of joy!
Hospital gown - let's be real, those hospital gowns don't do anything for plus size bodies. I'm packing my own for the postpartum period. This one offers easy access for nursing. I got an XX-large.
2 pairs of leggings that I already own - I don't foresee jeans in my near future
Comfort supplies for breastfeeding - some of this will be provided by the hospital as well, but just in case, I packed a few nursing pads, nipple cream, and soothing gel pads. This can't fit in my bag, but I'm also bringing my boppy nursing pillow for assistance with positioning.
Mini cooler - our hospital room will have a fridge and microwave, so I packed mini bottles of water, gatorade, ginger ale, and juice. Also various snacks.
Toiletries - don't forget your regulars like toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, face wash, deodorant, and lotion. I also packed light make up for postpartum pics depending on my mood.
Essential oil and diffuser - I love lavender for its calming effects.
Mini bluetooth speaker - for hypnobirthing tracks/calming music
